The Creative Live! Wireless is capable of allowing File Transfer Protocol (FTP) access to permit connection to the device for downloading files from USB Mass Storage Devices connected to the device.
Notes: The device cannot be connected to via FTP if a Mass Storage Device
is not plugged into a USB port on the Creative Live! Wireless. FTP access to
the camera is for accessing removable storage only. The camera cannot be setup
to upload images via FTP to an FTP server
FTP Setup
Changing the port number for the FTP server
- Log into the web page for the Live! Wireless.
- Click on Advanced in the left pane.
- In the menu displayed below Advanced, click on Port Settings.
- To change the port number for the FTP server running on the Live! Wireless, enter that number into the box labelled File Transfer Port:. This is the port number used to connect to the device.
Creating additional user accounts
Additional user accounts can be created for connecting to the Live! Wireless via the configuration webpage for viewing the camera or via FTP for uploading and downloading of files.
- Log into the web page for the Live! Wireless.
- Click on Administration in the left pane.
- In the menu displayed below Advanced, click on User Account.
- Click on the Create new user button to create a new user.
- Enter a user name for the new user in the User Name: box.
- Enter a password for the new user in the Password: box.
- To associate a specific folder on the removable storage device, click on the Browse button. This is the folder on the USB device displayed by default when this user account is logged in.
- Folder contents will be displayed on the right and available folders will be displayed on the left. Once a folder has been selected, click on choose above folder to select that folder.
- Click on Apply once all settings have been entered.
Connecting to the Creative Live! Wireless via FTP
- Make sure a USB Mass Storage Device is connected to the Live! Wireless.
- Open an FTP program and enter the IP address used to access the configuration web page of the Live! Wireless.
- Make sure the port number listed in the FTP program is the same as the port number listed in the configuration page.
- Enter the username and password of the user account to be logged into.
If the FTP program does not prompt for a username and password, check the manual for that FTP program to see where this information needs to be entered in the setup.
Port Settings
These are default values. If the ISP information does not contain different port numbers, leave these as they are.
- Web Server Port is the port used to connect to the web page for configuration and monitoring.
- Video Streaming Port is the port used by Creative Internet Cam Center to connect to the camera for viewing of live video streams.
- File Transfer Port is the port used for FTP connections to access the removable storage device connected to the server. If this port is changed, the new port number will have to be specified in the FTP program.
- POP3 Port is the port number of the POP3 server being connected to when sending out email alerts. POP3 configuration is optional, though some ISPs require a POP3 login.
- SMTP Port is the port number of the SMTP server being connected to when sending out email alerts.
Once the values have been set, click on the Apply button.
Motion Detection
The Creative Live! Wireless is capable of detecting motion and sending email alerts with detected images.
- Click on Advanced then Motion Detection.
- Click on the Enable radio button.
- After changing any of the settings to suit personal needs, click Next>>.
- Enter the required settings, noted with a (*) before the field.
- The SMTP Server (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is the domain
name of the email server used by the ISP.
- The Email Account is the username used to log into the email account. This is often the first part of the email address, before the @ symbol.
- The Email Account Password is the password used to log into the email account.
- To (Recipient Address) is the email address the alerts and images will be sent to.
- The POP3 Server (Post Office Protocol 3) is the domain name of the POP3 email server used by the ISP. This is optional, though some ISPs may require a POP3 login for sending email.
- The From (Your Email Address) is the email address to show the alerts were sent from. Entering an email address in this field allows the receiver to respond to the alerts.
- Once the settings are entered, click Apply.
DDNS Setup
Enter the host name to be used for connecting to the camera from the internet. The address will be in the form of hostname.creativeddns.com.
LAN IP Setup
By default, the Creative Live! Wireless is setup to automatically obtain an IP Address from the network it is connected to. The IP address can manually be entered.
- Click on Administration and LAN IP Setup.
- From the drop down menu IP selection select Fixed IP address.
- Enter the fixed IP address into the LAN IP field.
- Enter the Subnet Mask in the IP Mask field.
- Enter the IP address of the router the network is connected to.
- Enter the Primary DNS server in the Primary Dns field.
- Enter the Secondary DNS server in the Secondary Dns field.
Note: The Primary Dns and Secondary Dns information is often supplied by a local network administrator or ISP. To move between fields, use the Tab key. Dots do not have to be entered into the fields.
- Click on Apply once the settings have been entered.
